The Fredericksburg Trails Alliance (FTA) is a volunteer and 501(c)(3) nonprofit service organization that relies on the generosity of sponsors to ensure we can maintain our goals to protect and expand bicycle and pedestrian access of off-road trails in the greater Fredericksburg, Virginia, region by means of advocacy, communication, education, recreation, trail work, and promoting health, wellness, community involvement, and fun.

We are an organization that is 100% run by volunteers, but we do have operating costs consisting of insurance, trail building materials, trail work tools, equipment, website maintenance, and event and marketing materials.  With YOUR support, we can continue to maintain and grow the multi-use trails in the Fredericksburg area.

Your Sponsorship to FredTrails helps build great trail experiences by providing precious resources to allow our community to reach its recreation and conservation goals. Donations also fuel key events that advocate the building of multi-use trails on public land, helps educate land managers on trails and their positive impacts on the community, and provides funding for the purchase of tools and materials to support building and maintaining our communities’ trails. 2019 Statistics and Accomplishments

  • Over 4,000 followers through Facebook, Twitter, and email
  • Reaching 5,000 people weekly through social media, email, and website
  • 1.5 Miles of trail built at Motts and Prettyman’s Camp Trail
  • 12 community trail maintenance work days, 76 volunteers with 2,100 man-hours of trail work
  • Designated and Authorized trail organization through a MOU with the City of Fredericksburg
  • Received meritorious volunteer award for working 2,000 volunteer hours on City Parks from the Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation, and Events Director
  • Worked with the City of Fredericksburg and the Sunshine Ballpark Foundation to open Sunshine Ball Park parking to trail users
  • Worked with the City of Fredericksburg, Parks Recreation and Events to increase the number of parking spots at Motts (Parking area when park is closed)
  • Built brand new Sunshine Trail head. Purchased and Installed bike repair station and kiosk at the trailhead.

  • Bridge replacements and builds for Motts Run Reservoir and the Quarry
  • Building 2.4 of new flow trail at Motts Run Reservoir
