Quarry Trail Workday – Snow Damage Clean-up (Round 2)
January 22, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Calling all trail users! This Saturday (22 Jan 2022), we will meet at the Quarry parking lot down at the bottom of Wicklow Drive at 0900!
We have the lot reserved to allow us closer access to the Beach Trail.
We are continuing the enduring project of cutting back the downed trees and brush along Beach Trail and USGS Trail (and the remainder of trail depending on the # of volunteers).
We will have a FredTrails sticker for everyone that shows up to VOLUNTEER! We will ask you to sign our waiver prior to working and this is where you can grab your sticker!
We will have some pruners/snips, but please bring your own pruners or hand saws (if you have one). Also, bring water, gloves, and wear appropriate gear (boots and cold weather clothing).
Mission: Cut and remove all the little saplings, branches, and laurel that have broken off onto the trail. Help remove logs and larger branches that our sawyers have cut off the trail. Note: Remember, if you cut smaller broken saplings/brush, please cut at the ground level, so there are no spikes remaining. Also, please drag all deadfall and branches uphill or away from the trail at least 30 feet from the trail. This will help with future maintenance and the overall aesthetics and beauty of the trail.
We will break into Teams and each Team will address different trails. This way we can be sure that we open as much trail as we can!!!
On 5 February, we are working with an Eagle Scout to install a new bridge on Beach Trail, and this remaining clearing will enable us to get the materials to the project site.
