Welcome to 2021! As you have read, there are a lot of projects that will be hitting the queue this year.
As part of our initial plan, we are ready to continue the next phases of work on the Motts 2.4 new trail we built in 2020.
As you know, we built a significant amount of structure on the new 2.4 mile trail at Motts. Our goal was to address the remaining crossings with other means, such as rocks and erosion control pavers.
The inclusion of this work was part of the original plan and we wanted to address these locations over time. With significant weather and no closure of the trails, these suspected areas are in need of some hardened improvements.
We have ordered erosion control pavers and will begin to install these at the areas on the map depicted with the yellow stars. Using our powered wheelbarrow (Thanks Trek!), we will transport the pavers to the project sites. Additionally, we will mine rocks from throughout the park to use in conjunction with the pavers. The orange star will be all rock work to improve the double creek rock crossings that exist today. The red star is still be deciding upon whether or not to reroute up the hill. The water levels in the reservoir this year proved that this location is subject to be under water again. Thankfully this is the only spot that was affected in all of the machine built new trail. Our goal is to have a trail that will be unaffected by significant future water levels.
Meet us at the Trench Hill parking lot at 0900 on 30 January 2021. Access Trench Hill Lane via Rte 3 to Single Oak Lane.
We will practice social distancing and work in line with COVID protocols.
Please wear sturdy boots or shoes, bring gloves, and bring water.
Thanks for your support and we look forward to meeting you!!
